MISSION AND VISION

TECHNOLOGY MISSION STATEMENT

The Hopewell Valley Regional School District believes that technology must be an integral part of the learning experience for all students. Student needs in the 21st century dictate that the focus of the technology program be directed to the informational and instructional uses of technology, the integration of technology in all curricular areas, the ability to have easy access to appropriate technology, the training, and support in the use of technology at all levels, and the fostering of technology-related skills necessary to perform as productive and informed citizens. The district believes that technology must be integrated into the classroom and in each and every curriculum. Technology has the potential to provide significant tools for both teachers and students to more efficiently, effectively, and creatively solve problems, to develop thinking skills, to organize and process information, to communicate ideas, to learn new information, to reinforce learning, and to apply knowledge to future life situations.

TECHNOLOGY VISION STATEMENT

People in the 21st century live in a technology and media-rich environment, marked by various characteristics, including 1) access to an abundance of information, 2) rapid changes in technology tools, and 3) the ability to collaborate and make individual contributions on an unprecedented scale. To be effective in the 21st century, students, citizens, and workers must be able to exhibit a range of functional and critical thinking skills related to information, media and technology.

The Hopewell Valley Regional School District envisions that technology is available and supported for all staff and students (in no particular order):

  • to meet the curricular needs of all learners across the curriculum

  • to develop ethical values with regard to the use of technology

  • to improve the effectiveness of administrative tasks

  • to address diverse learning styles and rates

  • to provide a variety of means to communicate

  • to improve academic achievement

  • to master the necessary technology skills as demanded by the workplace and society

  • to provide universal access to information and be able to assess and share that information

  • to use technology to enhance creative and innovative problem solving

  • to improve critical thinking skills and foster creativity
