An adaptive education program operates at all schools. It is designed for identified children in kindergarten through fifth grade who need additional fine or gross motor coordination activities. The emphasis is on developing basic body movement.
Elementary physical education provides all children with instruction in basic movement skills. Physical education is designed to be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for every child, where he/she can learn movement skills that will enhance his/her life. These skills include balance, strength, flexibility, agility, general coordination, body awareness, laterality, directionality, posture, rhythm, manipulative skills, locomotor and non‑locomotor skills, eye‑hand and eye‑foot coordination.
We strive to develop efficient, effective and expressive movement in all children through our developmental programs in the primary grades. Cooperative skills leading toward desirable social concepts through individual, partner, and group work are taught before competitive skills.
The health curriculum helps make students sensitive to the ever-changing advancements in health sciences. Components include: growth and development; personal health and nutrition; safety and first aid; mental health education; communicable diseases; dental health and consumer, community and environmental health; drugs, alcohol, and tobacco; HIV instruction; and Lyme's Disease.
