Follow-up letter from Dr. Smith regarding student mental health

January 11, 2018: I am writing as a follow-up to my letter last week regarding student mental health.  On Tuesday evening, over 500 individuals attended a presentation at Rider University by Mr. George Scott from the Traumatic Loss Coalition.  The strong turn out and the number of follow-up questions that I have received indicates a need for resources.  In response, I have placed a “Hope and Help” button on the main page of our district website.  If you click this button you will have access to contact information for local mental health resources and the PowerPoint and video presentation from Tuesday evening.  We are also in the process of planning several additional programs related to mental health.  I will share details with our community once they are finalized. Our struggle is not unique. Every high school in America is facing similar challenges and the stakes are high. (Click on the title above for more and for Frequently Asked Questions)
