Winter Weather Update from HVRSD

Dear Hopewell Valley Families:

We successfully avoided the cold weather for a good portion of the fall; however, the recent snow fall reminds us that winter will soon descend upon the Hopewell Valley.  As I have done in the past, I would like to quickly share the process that we use when we decide to close or delay the opening of schools.

In the event of a weather related change in the school schedule, we will use our calling system to inform parents/guardians of a school closing, delay or early dismissal. Information will also be posted on the district website, Twitter, Facebook and our television station.

For a school closing, the decision will be communicated around 6:00 AM. For an early dismissal, the decision will be made before 10:00 AM.   Whenever possible, we will make a decision the night before.  In these cases, communication will be sent before 10:00 PM. Parents/guardians will receive an email, phone message and/or text message using their contact information listed in OnCourse.  Please take this opportunity to make sure your contact information in OnCourse is correct.

As we begin another winter weather season, I want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Thomas A. Smith, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
