The Hopewell Valley Regional School District will assemble a committee of parents, students and staff members to investigate the possibility of adjusting our school start times. We have also developed a survey for your input. The survey is available here.
Specifically, our committee will review research, survey results, and will work to address some of the following questions:
- What are the positive outcomes associated with later school start times in middle and high schools?
- What is the potential impact on staff, families and home life issues?
- Will changing the start times increase the difficulty in scheduling after-school activities, especially sports programs?
- Will changing the start times result in increased transportation costs?
We expect that this committee will meet at least monthly (days to be determined) over this school year. We hope to have parent, student and staff representative from each school. If you are interested in volunteering for this committee, please sign up here. Committee participants will be randomly selected and notified on October 25th. The kick-off meeting will take place on November 4 @ 6:00 PM.
