Timberlane Launches Soccer Ball Drive
to Benefit Iraqi Youth
Sixth graders at Timberlane Middle School
have launched a soccer ball drive to benefit Iraqi and Afghan
children.
During the two-week-long drive, which begins Oct. 27, students will also
accept new and gently-used soccer-related equipment such as shinguards,
cleats, uniforms, socks, orange cones and air pumps. Cash donations will
also be accepted.
"Since Hopewell is such a soccer
community, I thought this would be a great community service project to
do," said math teacher Bill Russell, who is coordinating the drive.
Proceeds from the drive will be distributed through the Baltimore-based
Eric's Goal, a non-profit group formed by a U.S. Army soldier serving in
Iraq. |
