An excerpt in German and one in English from a half hour discussion in the Hopewell Valley Central High School television studio in the fall of 2006 while the exchange students from Jena were visiting Hopewell Valley.  Exchange student Kyle Walsh directed his third level television class in this taping

 

 

Four montages playing at once show German-American Exchange students and places they visited.  Music by Ernst Abbe Gymnasium students at their graduation ceremony.  Hopewell Exchange student Catherine Bhaskar gives an overview of the trip.

 

 

Hopewell Exchange students Christina Boyce-Jacino, Chelsea San Filippo, Terri Mohacsi, Catherine Bhaskar and Chryssi Youard talk about our bicycle, train and subway tour of Berlin.  Music by Berlin street musicians.

 

 

We stay at a youth hostel near the eight hundred year old village of Sayda.  Students practice the dance they will do at the farewell party the night before leaving Jena, and make incense burners.  We tour Seiffen, a wood carving village near the Czech border.

While staying in Jena we visited nearby cities including Weimar, and Erfurt.  Ed Wang talks about Dresden, and Laura Feibush talks about Buchenwald concentration camp.  Music by a Munich street quartet.

 
 

While spending a weekend in Dresden we visited the Saxon Switzerland.  Charlotte Bhaskar, Laura Feibush, Catherine Bhaskar and Shelby Veazey sing.  All the Hopewell exchange students sing a second song.

John Hallinger and Max Grenzer compete against each other in Sing Star.  We tour Munich, and Neuschwanstein castle in the south German state of Bavaria, and Salzburg in Austria.  Becca Wood and Tom McKeon talk about Munich.  Topher Anuzis is late after a lunch break and has to sing before he can get back on the bus.

On our last night in Germany we eat dinner outdoors at Munich’s Augustiner Keller.  Music by a Berlin street musician.

 

Jena teachers Frau Carola Hartwig and Frau Angelika Kämmerer, student teacher Achim, student Max Grenzer, and Hopewell German teacher Mrs. Marilyn Lilly write new lyrics to a Beatles song to be sung at the farewell party on our last night in Jena.
