Safety and Procedural Reminders
Please remember:
- Electronic devices do not belong in school. The children are engaged in activities throughout their day and these devices often cause more controversy than joy. Thank you for keeping these devices home.
- Follow the 5 mph speed limit in the parking lot. Our parking lot lends itself to building up a bit of speed due to the distance between the road and the entrance area, but it becomes a true safety hazard when cars speed, especially Park in designated areas at arrival and dismissal times. The fire lane is not an area for parking. The police do come through and give tickets. Moving the vans near the gym entrance has helped traffic flow.
- Sign-in and wear a visitors badge upon entering the building. All s dates.html taff members have been instructed to ask visitors to return to the office and obtain a pass. This measure is for the safety of all of the children. Thank you for your assistance.
- An absence on an early dismissal day counts as a full day absence. There is no designation of a half-day in the district.
- Please be sure that your emergency information is up to date. In the event of a weather closing it runs much more smoothly if our callers can get through to a contact on the first call.
- Children coming to school without coats during the winter months will not be allowed out at recess.
- If you have questions regarding Bear Tavern School there are various ways to communicate with the school. Of course, you can always call the office at 737-4005. In addition, you can use the district email to contact me or your child's teacher or you can call one of your representatives on the parent council.
Morning Drop-Off:
Please be reminded that we do not have anyone on duty to monitor
the children in the morning until 8:30am. For the safety of the
children we ask that you do not drop them off at the school prior
to 8:30am. On any given day we currently have 30-40 children congregating
in the hallway. Please contact the YM Care program if you are
in need of morning care @ 737-3671. On a 90 minute delayed opening
school starts promptly at 10:15 a.m. and children may not be dropped
off before. Thank you for your cooperation.
Afternoon Pick-up: Please be reminded that parents must come into the building to sign out children who are being picked-up. We cannot send them outside to wait or to go to a car. This is one precaution that we take to ensure that children leave the building with the proper adult. Thank you for your cooperation.
VISITORS IMPORTANT
REMINDER
It is extremely important that every visitor sign in at
the office. When you sign in, you will be given a badge or sticker
indicating that you are a welcome visitor in our school. Without
an identifier, you will be asked to check in at the office. This
is for your safety as well as for the safety of our students and
staff. We must be able to account for every person in our school
to ensure the safety of all staff and students. Once again, thank
you for your cooperation.
