Got Assets?

WHAT IS IT?

Got Assets? is a community-wide effort to raise awareness about what developmental assets can do for young people and their families.

WHAT ARE DEVELOPMENTAL ASSETS?

They are positive values, skills, experiences, relationships and behaviors that enable young people to develop into successful and contributing adults. Printable age-appropriate lists can be found below. The Search Institute created the developmental asset framework. For more information, visit www.search-institute.org.

WHY DO DEVELOPMENTAL ASSETS MATTER?

The Search Institute has demonstrated by surveying more than 4 million children and young people that the more Developmental Assets young people acquire, the better their chances of succeeding in school and becoming happy, healthy and contributing members of their communities and society.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD HAS THESE ASSETS?

Simple. Use the parent/guardian asset checklist to determine which assets your children are experiencing. Have your child complete the student asset checklist and share any differences.

HOW DO I BUILD ASSETS IN MY CHILD?

Tips on building each asset will be provided through the school district’s weekly FOCUS. Parent Further offers information and resources to help families raise happy, healthy kids.
